Just follow the steps to root your samsung galaxy tab 4
1. Download this file - Click here to download
2. Rename it to update.zip
3. Keep this file in your sd card. (Not in any folder)
4. Turn off.
5. Hold the volume down (volume up on VZW Model) + power key to bring up the option to select recovery mode or download mode.
6.Choose the recovery mode option by hitting the volume down key then selecting with the volume up key.
7. In the factory android recovery menu, choose "Install update from SD card".
8. Now select the update.zip
